Its been a little too long since I last posted a status, so I want to get caught up.
We drove from Hesperia, CA to Pahrump, NV on Saturday October 26 about
190 miles. It seemed like most of that was interstate until taking off a 2 lane
and sometimes very narrow state highway. No doubt a scenic drive and a
part of NV we hadn't seen. Unfortunately within 5-6 miles from our destination
our friends Gary and Serena who we were following was broad sided by
a young woman who was sighted for failure to yield.
As we all approached the intersection I think we all thought the girl was NOT
going to stop and prepared to stop until she came to a complete stop, unfortunately
she didn't stay stopped. Gary attempted to avoid here by swerving but she was
unaware and it appeared she never saw him. So since the 26th they have been trying
to get the insurance to send adjusters and maneuver the insurance system to resolve
the claims process.
And it wasn't bad enough that from the passengers door to the rear of their 5th wheel
had damage, then on Sunday a man unhooking his jeep from his motor home failed
to set the brake and his jeep rolled down a small grade hitting the other side damaging
the opposite side of the 5th wheel and slide mechanism.
OMG, can you imagine a winter vacation starting off like this?
Hopefully this next week they will have some information on both vehicles to determine
what the insurance companies want to do.
Since we have been in Pahrump we have seen a bunch of crazy driving, maybe mainly
everyone is too old to be driving or they have they're mind on getting to the casino to
win big, but they do drive pretty crazy here. We watch a signal near by and 2-3 cars run
the light nearly every time we are there.
Bill saw a wreck in front of Walmart yesterday and a woman on a bike get hit and felt
he wasn't going to go out alone again cause it takes more than 2 eyes to drive defensively
in this town.
We have also gotten in some geocaching out on our way to Mt Charleston, of course
we've not made it near the mountain since this string of caches have been placed
about every tenth of a mile. I think in total we have gotten somewhere around
40 in the two days.
We've gotten in some pool time, the pool is a bit too cold for us so we caught a few
rays, visited, and ate.
Not sure that any of us will come back to Pahrump, NV.
