We went to the Tampa RV Super Show and WOW!!! that was an experience. We camped at the Fair grounds where they provided electric via huge generators, no water or sewer services which is ok since we can dry camp ok for about a week. I heard there were over 700 RV's parked like us on the Fair grounds. It was pretty exciting and fun. Every morning was started with some dounuts and coffee and then we hit the show area. Imagine going to the state fair, however this was a fair for RV's and vendors that cater to RV'rs, THANK GOD that so far I have faired ok being around so much temptation.
After the RV show we moved a couple miles up the street to LazyDays RV Camping and Sales center where we have now been a little over a week. It is a nice place with full hook ups and a nice club house and screened in heated pool. Bill did laundry and that was kinda costly per wash and drying or at least the most we've paid since leaving home. However, we are going to resolve that next week when we have a washer/dryer installed so we have our own facilties at home (rv) and Bill can resume his laundry routine.
Next week we are also are planning to check out a celebration here in Tampa called Gasparilla where pirates battled the people of Tampa and they have a live show in Hillsborough Bay where a pirate ship comes ashore and captures the Mayor of Tampa followed by a parade and all sorts of events along the bay front.
We think it will be like Mardi Gras celebration Florida style so we plan to find out.
Then on 1/29 we are moving further south, yes I know you must keep asking how far south can you go, right? Well we still are experiencing some cool nights that require some heat, but as soon as the sun comes up it warms up pretty nicely. We both have been wearing jeans since it has been a bit cooler, but it is January.
We haven't decided where we will land next, but most likely it will be Ft Meyers, Fl. Kenny and Johnny have family there they want to visit and we have never been there so we will do some exploring, after all what else is there to do??
Just another day at the beach in Clearwater.
This was perhaps the most creative act/ride at the RV Show. It was a little wagon bring pulled by an automated armadillo. Hey, how much more Texan can you get than this?? Not bad for being at an RV show in FL.
This guy was a hoot at the RV show. He rode around played an electric piano and sung and actually had a pretty good voice.
A cute antique trailer from the RV show. Can you imagine a trip in this little thing?? Those were indeed the days.
This is a restored 16 ft. Bambi Airstream trailer that was parked outside the RV Show. It was just crying out to have it's picture taken.
Here we go, just a $1.8 million Prevost Bus conversion at the RV Show. We had to take off our shoes to enter this coach. It was wort it. The interior was beautiful. Hey, it should be at almost $2 million, right?
This was a sign out on the street at Tarpon Springs for a sponge diving business. They had a bout that took people out to the bay and a diver went out and dived for sponges. An interesting note, they had a sign that said thank you to Mike Rowe of Dirty Jobs, the TV show.
You all know that I can never pass an opportunity to take a pic of an antique Porsche. This one was out on the streets of Tarpon Springs.
This is the pirate ship used in the Gasparilla event in Tampa Bay. It was a festive weekend with many sites. I have never seen so many boats out in the bay area.
A Carnival ship docked at port in Tampa.
This is the exterior of the Salvador Dali Museum in St. Petersburg. The only other Dali Museum is located in Barcelona, Spain. The exterior was very interesting and an artwork on it's own.
And what would a Dali Museum be without a melted clock bench? Hey, it is is good enough for one of his paintings, why not outside on the museum grounds. The entire exterior and interior of the museum was just striking. The exterior grounds were beautiful and to top it off, the sail boats were docked just across the road at the Yacht Club.
The RV Super Show sounds awesome and i would love to check something like that out one day. Keep on keeping on and stay out of the ditches....hehe
