Our RV park is right on the Pacific and we look over the ocean and enjoying our foggy mornings and evenings.
We have explored the city, seeing the Wharf, Pier 39, Nob Hill, Lombard Street, Telegraph Hill and Coit Tower, Muir Woods National Park, Sausalito, Historic Grace Cathedral, Castro, The Painted Lady's.
WOW, that is a lot right??
Muir Woods was was purchased in 1905 to ensure the redwoods wood be protected the land was then donated to the government. In 1908 President Theodore Roosevelt proclaimed the area as a national monument which was named Muir after John Muir a conservationist. Redwoods grow well along the fog drenched coast of California, some that are over 600 years old. They can grow to be over 250 feet tall with roots that are only 13 to 14 feet deep but they can be far reaching as far out as 100 feet from the tree.
Grace Cathedral was constructed between 1927 and 1964 and is the third largest Episcopal cathedral and stands tall atop Nob Hill.
We are going to Alcatraz on Friday, we can't wait.
