October 22, Fernley, NV

WOW we have been in Fernley now almost a month.

Fernley is in a rural area east of Reno by about 30 miles. In the Eastern foothills of the Virginia Mountain Range with some pretty awesome mountain views and some awesome sunrise and sunsets.

Of course many might think of the area for the skiing in Tahoe, NV.

This week has been very nice, cool evenings and mild days. However, the wind has been gusty and the  mountains above 6-7 thousand feet  are expecting to get approximately 18" of snow from this storm.

Fernley is at the cross roads of I-80 and where 95 and 50 all trisect. It is also the starting point of HWY 50, known as the loneliest road in America.

Carson City, NV is the capital of Nevada with many historic buildings and plenty of hiking trails is toward our southwest by about 60 miles.

Lovelock NV is known as the "Banana Belt" established in 1868. It's community is approximately 2400 people.

I will try to get some local pictures soon and post them to this post.

Amazon is an interesting place...... I've had to eat my words when we stumbled onto the Amazon booth stating  "oh it will be fun" several times. I'm not sure I would want to be more than a temp employee here. We walk many many miles a day picking merchandise to ship to Amazon customers.

If you have never been to Amazon.com, you should check it out. I think they carry everything under the sun.

Speaking of sun... the sunsets and sunrise are pretty awesome here.

We were able to catch some pictures of the snow that was dumped in the higher elevations west of Fernley. I think I heard some reports there were 3-4 feet in some areas.

In addition some pretty unusal clouds that almost looked a little like space ships.... or so we thought ha ha
