December 30, 2012 Pomona CA

Saturday we took in the early viewing of the parade floats in the process of being covered with the various  flowers and etc that adorn the floats parade day. These floats appear to be covered by anyone that will stop to paint on some glue and sprinkle ground up flowers or greenery to ensure the base float is covered for a awesome appearance New Years day. We're just around the corner from where the TV cameras are and where the floats head down Colorado on the south side of the street. Who knows you may see us on TV.

Today we drove out thru Hollywood and along Mulholland Drive and ended up on Sunset Blvd.

We ended up eating on Sunset Blvd at Mels Drive in watching the everyday driver in their Mercedes and then the Bentley, Ferrari and Fisker electric car for the wealthy.

The area seems to have exploded with tourist over the last 2 days, I can hardly wait till New Years day since they say over a million attend the Rose Bowl Parade

December 27, 2012, Pomona, CA

Well we spent 14 days outside San Diego and got to take in a few sights around the area.

The weather was not always the best, however on a couple days we took in some Geocaching with our friends from New Mexico. The days were perfect for a nice nearly 5 mile hike.

We cruised from San Diego area up to Pomona where the weather was sunny and in the mid 70's, it was totally awesome. We then got out and took in a couple sights around Hollywood and LA.

Took a few pictures around the Griffith Art Deco Observatory on Mount Hollywood and of course a sparking night of lights. For our friends from New Mexico we almost caught the sunset, they would have liked the view.

We will take in the Tournament of Roses Parade on New Years day. We checked out our assigned seating and found we are very close to where the major networks will be set up filming the floats for TV.

San Diego:

San Diego Blacks Beach, a local place for surfers and hang gliders

Hotel Coronado on Coronado Island

Parachutes were being dropped anywhere from 10-12 per plane. During our Geocaching we got to see many drop to the airfield.

December 10, 2012 Getty Villa

Today we went to the Getty Villa today. The grounds and buildings are unbelievably beautiful and all for free too.

Getty originally built a ranch house where he displayed some of his art until it was necessary was to add on to the ranch house to display more of his art in a casual and relaxed atmosphere.

Then it he decided he would build the Villa to display more of the art in a setting that would be similar you might have seen ancient Rome. Definitely worth our time.

From there we traveled up Sunset Blvd thru West Hollywood, Hollywood, Beverly Hills and drove up and down Rodeo drive to do a little shopping. We saw all kinds of sites along the way including the Hollywood walk of fame and the stars.

A high end collectible car garage selling some awesome cars.

Venice beach and the surrounding area, including Muscle Beach.

What a day. Tomorrow we head over to Simi Valley to visit the Reagan Presidential Library.
