March 21, 2014 Fort Lauderdale, Florida

We arrived in Fort Lauderdale again 3/11 and it seems like a month ago but yet just 10 days ago...

I guess too much fun in the sun can affect ones well being HA HA

Can we say maybe Island life :) of course not quiet like Key West but it is
pretty nice.... we have spent much time at the beach laying around getting all
toasty and brown, ok maybe a little too much. I got a bit too much last week
have started the ugly peeling process UGH..

But the weather is very hard to beat.

We are at a Mobile Home/RV park which does only monthly rates which beats
all daily rate locations including our favorite TY park. Its about $27 a day now
but May is low season and it drops to about $14 bucks a day.

So we are thinking we may spend the summer here to see if we like it when it is a bit
warmer and to be sure that the breezes off the ocean will keep us cool enough.

I will hope to keep you updated with news as we explore.

Housing market here is all over the place. Can't replace our Irving place here less that
over $500K, crazy prices and they wonder why they were hit so hard by the housing
crash. We have looked at homes that might be $187 per SQ FT still at $300K that were
once $500K in 2006. That is NUTS!!!

Many are either in foreclosure still or have been bought by investors that are in the
process of flipping them to try to score some hefty profits. It seems though there is
no shortage of buyers either.

Maybe I need to move my real estate license to Florida...... although they do have
some quirky laws/rules like penalties for removing a tree on your property, some
properties can use well water to water lawns only and of course various taxes.

We paid 11% tax on top of our rent here 6% sales, 5% tourist tax... after 6 months
they charge neither??? whats that about??

Hope everyone is doing well!

March 9, 2014 Kissimmee, Fl (Mount Dora)

Went and hit a couple Antique Dealers in Mount Dora with Bob and his cousin Bill and saw the "rolling" hills of Florida, yea they have them!

We fell in love with the quaint town and it appeared real estate was pretty reasonable even.

They have Lakeside Inn which has been operational for over 130 years. President Calvin Coolidge and his wife spent a month here in early 1930.

The Inn over looks the lake where we saw sea plane taking off with a tour of the lake from above.

Popular area for tourist with plenty of eating places.

Unfortunately we went a day too soon as they had a antique auto show today(Sunday) but we did get to see a few cars that were there to attend the even.

Another 2 days here then back to Fort Lauderdale. We will be staying at Hill's RV/Moblie home park, yep we might have resorted to Trailer trash HA HA

Tuesday we'll have to get up and get around cause we have to travel the 180 miles and get to Hill's before 3 when their offices close.

March 4, 2014 Kissimmee, Fl (Orlando)

WOW we have been here since Feb 17th and our time will end here 3/11, YEA!! It has been
sort of boring here.

Plenty of mini vans and a bunch of people

We've decided that we like Fort Lauderdale so much that we are going to return
and stay at a place with a Monthly rate.

This will allow us to become more familiar with the area.

At least we had pictures there.... none here :( nothing exciting to write about

Did discover a DelWebb home community that we just loved..... they have
resort amenities and the community was very nicely organized.
