Jan 4, 2014 Florida or BUST

Yea, have made it into Florida and it has been nothing but cold.
Last night it dipped below 30 and was just freaking cold.

Looks like the panhandle is similar to Dallas weather, UGH.

Will arrive in Jasper, Florida today and spend 6 night on our
RV lot at Florida Gateway Resort. It will be the 1st time to see it since
buying it in 2012.

December 31, 2013 New Orleans

YEA, we made it to New Orleans after our unexpected stop in Lake Charles
and camping on the back lot at Freightliner!

We made it to New Orleans New Years Eve just prior to the two days of rain,
cold and wet walking around the French Quarter.

Had a nice new years celebration and enjoyed some of New Orleans flair
darting in and out of shops to stay warm and dry. Of course stopping to have
a few drinks HA HA

We have now passed thru Mississippi and Alabama arriving in the Sunshine
State of Florida. Pensacola, FL. tonight, Tallahassee, FL tomorrow, then
Saturday we will arrive in Jasper Florida.

Happy New Year to all!

December 30, 2013 Lake Charles, LA.

Well we made it out of Dallas as planned, had to take a little detour thru
Houston to have the service performed on the motor home to insure
continued performance and road worthyness for the coming year.

Unfortunately, that didn't prepare us for a Fan Belt that would decide
to break with so few miles on it. I suspect that there could be another
issue that may be uncovered later today when they replace the fan clutch
and put a new belt on.

It seems very premature for the belt to break and I have read everything
from misaligned pulleys, tensioners and alternator that have gone bad causing
a fan belt to break prematurly.

From a cost point if for any reason its determined what caused the belt to break
may change who might be paying the bill for this repair.

Guess newer isn't always better! Our Phaeton with a little over 50,000 miles
never let us down, no belt breaks or such.

We consider ourselves lucky that this all occurred at an exit off I10 and only
2 miles from Martin Truck, a Freightliner Custom Chassis dealer.

They ordered the parts on Friday and they arrived this morning. We are now
waiting for a tech to be available.

Once the parts are installed then we hope to get on the road again in route to
New Orleans.

December 6 2013 Dallas, Tx

We took a couple pictures of a park with beautiful and colorful trees with interesting
outcome in the pictures.

Again we are seeing ice and snow.

December 1, 2013 Dallas, Tx

We arrived in Dallas a day prior to Thanksgiving allowing for us to clean house do some shopping and etc. Had a nice Thanksgiving with family.

Then on Sunday met our Tuesday night dinner group on a "field"trip to the Bush Library & Museum.

It was nice visiting with friends and checking off one more presidential library.

November 26, 2014 Nevada to Dallas

We were so lucky to have awesome weather during our stay in Pahrump, NV and a day or two was good in Vegas, then it began raining.

As luck would have it we had rain from Vegas until it turned into snow and freezing rain before we reached Williams, NV. Thought we might have to spend an extra night in Williams due to the snow fall but we hit the highway.

We drove from Williams, NV to Albuquerque, NM where we stopped because snow fall and was afraid the roads were going to start freezing. Unfortunately more snow fell and we thought based on what we had seen on the news we should stay since Amarillo, Tx was hit with more snow and ice.

We did make it into Amarillo but not before we hit freezing fog, yep and it froze right on the windshield and would have to stop and scrape it off, thankfully we were only about 10 miles away from our park.

I am going to post some pics of our travels:

November 20th, 2013 Hoover Dam

WOW, I always forget what a sweet sight the Hoover Dam is and
what a project it must have been. In addition the new Hoover Dam
By pass was started in 2005 and was completed in 2010 on budget
of $240 million.

Pretty incredible considering most highways are
never constructed on time or on budget.
